Milford Rotary’s March 26 meeting centered on celebrating a hugely successful Prom Night, welcoming a new member posting, and hearing an inspiring update from the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation.
🌟 Club Highlights
•     Joshua Torres received his second membership posting.
•     Prom Night drew 71 attendees, generated $19,775, and netted over $12,000. Strong sponsor support and great energy all around.
•     Do Good funds will help purchase wrestling championship rings; $69 was raised at this meeting.
•     Updates included a full Purple Pantry, a Mets–Red Sox bet, and thanks to all Prom volunteers.
🎤 Guest Speaker
Dominic Montuano, Executive Director of the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, shared:
•     The camp now has a permanent home in Pennsylvania with long-term leases.
•     96% of funds go directly to campers.
•     $2,500 per camper for a one‑week July session; 69–100 kids attend annually.
•     Plans are underway for a week for adult burn survivors.
•     Milford Rotary presented a $1,500 donation.

Do Good:

  Jorge- Prom was a blast! Dick did a great job.  Ray did a great job with the tech stuff. It was a lot of fun and we didn't lose money!

  Dick said 71 people attended the Prom. Carrie did a great job getting sponsors with $9,200 donated. There was a total revenue of $19,775 and after all costs and expenses the net total was over $12,000.

  Phil said congrats to all who helped or participated in the event.  Also, he went to Jonathan Law High to give a financial talk to their seniors.

  Bill acknowledged a great job on the Prom and thanks to all the sponsors.

  Lorna said Do Good money is going to go to buy rings for the wrestlers.  We should raise enough for at least 2 rings.

  Bob wanted Dick to know that once you do a good job in Rotary, you have it for life. (See you at the shred event and Lobster bake).  Baseball is back and Bob leveled a bet at Win that the Mets will have a better record than the Red Sox by the end of the season.  The bet was $50.

  Ray gave thanks to all the sponsors.

  Dominic gave his congratulations to the club on a great job on Prom night.

  Christine said the Purple Pantry shelves are full.

  Carrie had a lot of fun at the Prom.  Jorge brought his friends, Tom and Sue danced up a storm, there was a king and queen for the event and her husband wore his kilt.  Deb did a great job with marketing.  There was great enthusiasm all around.

  Lorna gave her thanks for a great event.

  Today $69 was raised for Do Good.

Speaker:

  Dominic Montuano, known as the mouth that roared, was our speaker.  He is the Executive Director at Connecticut Burns Care Foundation and he is the President of the Stratford Rotary Club.  Dominic puts his heart and soul into each note of music and every live performance. He was the first World Champion of the Performing Arts competition. Today he brought his passion to talk about the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation.  The camp started in Massachusetts then was at Camp Pomperaug for 30 years until the camp got sold.  A new location was found and they were able to get two 25 year leases so now they have their forever place.  It is in Pennsylvania about 20 minutes west of Allentown.  They are building the infra structure they need to serve their special needs campers.  The goal is to allow the kids to do all kinds of things, let kids be kids and just have a good time.

  Dick  and Don of our club are on the board of the CT Burns Care Foundation.  Dick has been on the board for 20 years. All but 2 people at the camp are volunteers and 96% of the money they raise is used for the campers.  The cost for each camper for the week is $2500.  Camp is 1 week in duration and it is the third week in July.  69- 100 kids go to camp each year.  They want to put together 1 week for adult burn victims also.  At the camp, there are 2-3 counselors per child.  Today the club donated a check for $1500 to the foundation.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  4/9 is the Norm Parcells Award luncheon being held at Whitney Farms.  There will be no regular Rotary meeting at SBC that day.  We are planning on reserving a couple of tables at the luncheon.  Let's show support for Dave Adams and fill a couple of tables.  The luncheon fee is $60.

  4/12 is the shred event.  Looking for volunteers and sponsors.  Please help.

  4/18 is the next Beth El service.  It is a Saturday.  The number of guests has been increasing.  We need more volunteers please.

  5/16 is the Epic Day of Service.  We will be at Stop and Shop collecting food which will be donated to Food2Kids

  6/14 is the Run in the Park 5K. It is being held at Eisenhauer Park at 9 AM.  Can sign up at Runsignup website.
